Disabling your installed hardware acceleration is one of the troubleshooting steps we suggest if you're having problems with video when trying to watch a course in a browser. This article describes how to turn off your browser's hardware acceleration.

How to disable hardware acceleration on your browser
The following instructions will show you how to turn off hardware acceleration in Firefox or Google Chrome.
- Note that we advise getting in touch with Google or Firefox directly if you experience any problems following the instructions below to disable the hardware acceleration.
Disabling hardware acceleration in Google Chrome:
- Open Google Chrome, then choose Settings as shown below.
- Click on System on the left-hand side to find hardware acceleration. The hardware acceleration option may be referred to as “graphics acceleration”.
- toggle off "Use hardware acceleration when available" or “Use graphics acceleration when available” then restart Google Chrome.
Disabling hardware acceleration in Firefox:
- Open Mozilla Firefox; click on the Firefox menu button and select Settings.
- Scroll down to the Performance section. Make sure the "Use recommended performance settings" checkbox is disabled and disable the "Use hardware acceleration when available" option.
- Now restart the browser.
If you are accessing the courses via Safari:
Sadly, users cannot turn on or off hardware acceleration in Safari. As previously said, we find that watching Thkee courses is best done with Google Chrome.
