Thkee is a global marketplace that accepts a wide range of currencies. Instructors can choose to set a new course price in any of the supported currencies, no matter where they are located.
Below are answers to the more frequently asked questions we receive regarding currencies, and how currencies are assigned to Thkee accounts.
Which currencies does Thkee support?
Currently, Thkee supports the following currencies:
-
American Dollar (USD)
-
Saudi Riyal (SAR)
By default, students who do not have one of our supported currencies assigned to their Thkee account will see prices set in SAR.
How is my account’s currency determined?
The currency is initially set based on the location of where your Thkee account was created. By default, students who do not have one of our supported currencies assigned to their Thkee account will see prices set in SAR.
All instructors, regardless of location, have the option of setting a new course price in any of Thkee’s supported currencies.
How can I change the currency for my account?
We are unable to change the currency of an account from the one that is for the nation you are currently residing in or located in.
However, if you reside in a different nation than the one your Thkee account was created in, and are presently located in the country of your residence, please contact our support team so we can assist you further.
How can I see what currency is assigned to my account?
The currency that is assigned to your account will be indicated in the course prices you see when you search for courses in the Thkee marketplace. Please be sure that you’re logged into your Thkee account, however, so that the correct currency is indicated.
In addition, if you’ve purchased a course before, you can also see what currency is registered for your account by reviewing receipts in your Purchase History.
Why have I seen two different currencies at thkee.com?
Please be sure to log into your Thkee account to see the currency that is assigned to your account. If you are traveling or are using someone else’s computer, then the currency you see might be based on the device’s current location or that person’s account, rather than your own.
How are you calculating exchange rates?
Thkee uses a country-specific price tier matrix to determine a student’s localized price. The matrix will be updated periodically based on market conditions.
What taxes are charged for Thkee courses?
Students who reside in regions that collect transaction taxes like VAT, GST, or other types of sales taxes may be required to pay a tax when they purchase on the Thkee platform. For more information on taxes, please read our Taxes: Student FAQ
Why is the currency at checkout different from the currency assigned to my account?
Some banks and financial institutions will not authorize international payments in certain currencies, and as a result, the purchases are processed in another currency at the equivalent price.
If you have any additional questions regarding your financial institution's restrictions or policies regarding this, we recommend you contact them directly for more information.
Does Thkee charge any currency conversion fees?
Thkee does not charge any currency conversion fees when you purchase a course.
If you purchase a course in a currency that’s different from your payment method’s currency, however, your financial institution or the third-party payment processor may apply a currency conversion rate or fee.
Please contact your financial institution or payment provider for information on what conversion fees may apply.
