When creating a live course on Thkee, you’ll need to configure the session configuration to ensure proper scheduling and effective participant management. These settings allow you to control session duration, available seats, how participants join, as well as scheduling and notification preferences.
In this article, we’ll walk you through the main session configuration and the fields you’ll need to complete.
1. Class Setup
Start by entering the basic session information:
- Session Duration: Set the session length in minutes (e.g., 60 minutes = 1 hour)
Defining the duration helps organize the course schedule and informs learners about the expected time for each session. - Available Seats: Set the maximum number of students who can join each session
This helps manage participant capacity and improves interaction quality between the instructor and learners. - Webinar Mode: Enable this option if you expect a large number of participants
When activated:- Students join as viewers initially
- They can request to speak or participate during the session
This mode is commonly used for webinars or large-scale educational sessions.
2. Limits and Restrictions
This section helps manage session bookings and prevent scheduling conflicts:
- Minimum Booking Notice: Set the minimum time required before a session starts for learners to book
(e.g., if set to 24 hours, students cannot book a session starting in less than 24 hours) - Time Slot Interval: Define the booking slot frequency on the calendar
This controls how booking slots repeat in the calendar and helps organize available time slots. - Show potential conflicts with back-to-back sessions:
When enabled, you’ll receive warnings if sessions overlap or if there isn’t enough buffer time between them.
This helps you detect scheduling conflicts before publishing the course.
3. Your Availability
This section allows you to define when you’re available to schedule sessions:
- Time Zone: All times are displayed based on your selected time zone
Availability Schedule: Choose a predefined availability schedule for this course
This determines the days and time slots when you can host sessions
You can create or edit availability schedules from the instructor dashboard or directly from here.
4. Advanced Settings
Advanced settings allow you to control session behavior during and after it ends.
By default, these settings follow Thkee’s recommended configuration and may not always be editable. They are designed to ensure smooth session management and avoid scheduling issues.
- Session Timing
This section controls how the session handles timing, warnings, and transitions between sessions:
Auto-end session after grace period: When enabled, all participants will be disconnected automatically after the grace period ends
Grace Period: Defines the extra time allowed after the session ends before it is automatically closed
(e.g., a 60-minute session with a 10-minute grace period can last up to 70 minutes)
End Warning: Determines when a “session ending soon” notification appears to alert both the instructor and learners
Back-to-Back Alert: Notifies you if another session is scheduled to start shortly after the current one
This helps you manage transitions more efficiently
- Late Enrollment
Grant recording access to late enrollees: When enabled, learners who join after the course has started will gain access to recordings of previous sessions
These settings give you full control over how your live sessions are scheduled and managed, helping you deliver a smooth, organized, and professional learning experience.
