Keeping a course up to date is a crucial aspect of teaching online. A single lecture may occasionally need to be revised, but the content of the lecture can remain unchanged. The lecture content can be changed rather than removing it entirely and starting over.
Heads Up Before You Edit!
Think of your course like a book that many have already started reading. Here's how to update it without confusing anyone:
- Lectures: Only make small tweaks. If you want to add something totally new, better to add a brand new lecture.
- Quizzes and Assignments: Fix typos or make questions clearer without changing their meaning. If you have a new question in mind, create a new quiz or assignment instead.
This way, everyone stays on the same page, and all the hard work your students have put in still counts!
Uploading new content to an existing lecture
Updated content must match the existing lecture type. In other words, if the lecture was originally a video lecture, the new content must also be video. If you would like to create a new lecture type, delete the lecture and create a new one.
To update the content of an existing lecture, please follow the steps below:
1. On the left side of the Course Management page, click Curriculum
2. Scroll to the lecture that you wish to edit
3. Click Edit
4. Update lecture content as you like
5. By clicking Replace you can upload new content.
6. The content will finish processing automatically, then click Save
Please Note:
- This window auto-saves your progress, so uploading/processing will continue even if you close the pop-up.
- Processing can take time, so closing your browser won’t affect it. We’ll notify you once it's completed.
