A Thkee course may be planned and administered by multiple instructors. This article aims to steer instructors considering this option away from potentially troublesome use cases (such as abusing the co-instructor feature to manipulate Thkee's revenue share through instructor coupons or referral links) and toward advantageous use cases (such as working together to co-develop a course as a fantastic way to bring in new knowledge and perspectives).
Thkee’s policy on co-instructors
Co-instructor rules:
We advise that if you intend to include a co-instructor in your course, it should be someone you are comfortable and confident in. If you are sharing earnings with a co-instructor or granting editing powers to one, please exercise extra caution and thoughtfulness. Remember that Thkee's contractual arrangement is exclusive to Thkee and each instructor. Any business agreements between co-instructors pertaining to a course are kept confidential and between them only.
In addition, please consider the following:
- DO include them, if a co-instructor is contributing special knowledge to the course creation, development, production, teaching, or course management.
- DO make them visible to the students, if co-instructors are participating with students or making an appearance in the course videos. The individual with whom students are interacting and learning should be at least one of the course's visible instructors.
Don’t do the following:
- DON’T be co-instructors with the primary goal of exploiting Thkee’s marketing tools or sharing each other’s student base.
- It is against Thkee policy, for instance, if an instructor wishes to collaborate with you after your course has been released solely to promote each other's student base. Recall that you can promote each other's courses if you're genuinely interested in doing so by signing up as an Affiliate.
- However, we do allow courses to have several instructors, so it is perfectly OK if you want to collaborate on or co-manage a course from the start.
Escalation process for violations
Keep in mind that mistreatment of co-teacher relationships affects all of them. We've observed a negative effect on students as well as greater unsubscribe rates for instructor announcements and Thkee emails when instructors attempt to enhance their marketing capabilities in this manner. Because these students disconnect from all Thkee emails as well as from individual teachers' notifications, this harms all instructors in the marketplace.
We will consider an instructor in violation of our policies if we witness instances where they are blatantly circumventing the spirit of Thkee policies in an effort to manipulate the system, or if we witness a significant negative impact on the student experience (high unsubscribe rates or refund rates as a result of co-instructor behavior).
Since mistakes are inevitable, most first offenses will result in a warning. Recurring infractions may lead to account suspension, account termination, or loss of access to product features (including course announcements).
