Choosing the right topics for your course
When choosing the subjects for your course, we strongly advise you to take into account what is typically covered in the course. Please be aware that each topic you choose should accurately and succinctly sum up the material covered in the course.
Remember that the topic that most succinctly and effectively represents the course's subject should be the most representative topic among all the topics on the list. As an illustration, "The Complete Tennis Course" should have "Tennis" chosen as a topic rather than "Sports," as the latter is too general and vague. Alternatively, we would strongly advise using "Financial Modeling" as a topic rather than just "Finance" if the course contains substantial material about financial modeling and is primarily focused on this subject.
How to add topics to your new courses
Prior to submitting the course for approval in its entirety, you must choose the topics for any additional courses you intend to create. Please be sure to adhere to the simple instructions below in order to add up to four topics to your draft course:
-
Navigate to the instructor dashboard. Discover how here.
-
To access the course in edit mode, click the pencil icon located on the right side.
-
Select the Details tab. Check out the Topics section.
-
Sometimes the course title is used to generate topic recommendations. On the other hand, you can click the X to eliminate any of the recommended topics. By clicking on The input box, a dropdown menu will appear, allowing you to choose a new topic.
-
Choose the relevant topics from the list.
-
New topics will be automatically stored.
-
When you submit your finished course for evaluation, your chosen topics will be examined with the rest of the material. Please be aware that although our review panel always takes into account the topics that instructors recommend, they reserve the right to choose other subjects if they see fit.
Please Note:
The topics that the Thkee review team accepted before your course became available are locked, meaning that course instructors cannot alter them. Should you come across circumstances where the topics you had your published course authorized for were not appropriate, or if you believe there is a better fit for another topic, please get in touch with our support team to make your suggestions for a new topic. While we are pleased to share your suggestions with our review team for further consideration, we are unable to promise that they will be carried out.
Topics: commonly asked questions
Do I have to choose four topics for my course?
No, you're not required to. For a course, instructors may choose up to four topics, but you are not obligated to choose four if you don't think any of them are relevant. Make sure the topics you choose can provide you with a thorough understanding of the course material and are pertinent to the subject matter. If you add too many or unrelated topics, your course will only be misrepresented to Thkee students, which could result in a bad learning experience and some bad ratings.
Can I create a topic for my course if one doesn’t exist?
You can definitely come up with a topic for your course. You are welcome to offer a topic to us if, after searching through our selection of themes, you are still unable to discover one that fits your course. Make sure you select the topic you want to discuss or submit from the dropdown menu in order to accomplish this.
After entering your proposal, select the "New topic" option located directly beneath the text area. Remember that you will need to switch your profile language to English before you can suggest a new topic that isn't already in our system.
Following this action, your suggested topic will show up in the main topic section:
Here are a few more rules:
- Please limit your proposal to subjects that fit the requirements for the course topic. It might be a single word or phrase that captures the essence of much of the material covered in your course plan.
- Be careful not to expand your topic beyond a sentence or paragraph, but rather to a single, succinct word or phrase.
- Do not include URLs, please.
We give careful thought to a variety of considerations before including any topics on our list. The mutual exclusivity of the notion, the existing supply and demand, and other variables are taken into account while approving a topic. Topics that might be accepted later are kept on file and frequently reviewed.
Can I add any topic that I want?
As previously stated, our Quality Review Team will only approve a topic if it is relevant to your course, but you are free to suggest a topic if it isn't presently available.
After I’ve selected the course topics, can I change a topic at a later date?
In the event that you decide to choose a different topic for your courses in the future, please get in touch with our support staff to submit your suggestions.
Can I select topics for private courses?
Regretfully, no. At the moment, topics are only available for public courses. Check the instructions on how to adjust the privacy settings of a course.
